Nyong’o complains over high flight cost

Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o yesterday criticised some domestic airlines over alleged excessive flight charges. Nyong’o protested what he termed as high flight charges by some local airlines.

Specifically, the governor issued a statement complaining of hefty flight charges allegedly imposed on passengers by Safarilink Aviation. He claimed that while traveling from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Kisumu on February 3, on Safarilink Airline’s 7am flight, he had been charged Sh 19,000 for one way as opposed to the usual charges pegged between Sh 5,500 and Sh 7,000.

“I am issuing this statement to protest the excessive high flight charges by some domestic airlines. On February 3, I was booked to fly to Kisumu from Wilson Airport in Nairobi on Safarilink Airline’s flight No 081, ticket reference No 49141F, where I paid Sh 19,000,” he said.

According to Nyong’o, though he protested the charges with the airline’s management, was compelled to pay the money as he was to attend an urgent meeting in Kisumu.
