Ntutu points out his hits, misses after one year in office

Narok governor Patrick Ole Ntutu yesterday marked his one year in office, highlighting the milestones his administration had registered since his election in August last year.
Presenting his hits and misses at the county accountability forum held at the William ole Ntimama stadium, Ntutu said his administration had made great strides in the roads, health, education, agriculture and tourism sectors while also improving the management of the Maasai Mara game reserve and improved collection of revenue.
The governor cited the Sh3 billion development kitty distributed to the 30 wards across the county under the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2022/2023.
Priority projects
“I introduced Sh100 million ward development kitty to take care of development projects from the grassroots level and in the first phase of the CIDP we have launched over 600 projects prioritised by residents during the public participation forums early in the year,” said the governor.
Ntutu who was flanked by governors’ Dr Wilber Ottichilo (Vihiga) and Prof Hillary Barchok (Bomet) maintained that his administration had met its set targets during the year under review.
He attributed this to management measures he had put in place and close working relationship with county assembly.
Both Ottichillo and Barchok congratulated Ntutu for his achievements, saying the strides made in Narok will be used as a case study in other counties especially the Sh3 billion ward development fund.
Ntutu at the same time said revenue collection in the county had grown from Sh1.3 billion to Sh3.1 billion in the last one year
“Through our concerted efforts of tightening loopholes and zero tolerance to corruption, we have been ranked as third county countrywide for own source revenue and second on improved revenue collection,” said Ntutu.
