Ntutu launches development projects
Narok governor Patrick Ntutu yesterday launched development projects worth Sh3 billion across the county’s 30 wards.
The projects include the construction of a borehole at the Narok town slaughterhouse. The governor also unveiled the contractors picked to undertake the projects.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Sh5 million borehole, Ntutu said the project would benefit residents of Limanet, Ilmasharian and London estates in Narok Township ward.
“My administration has already resolved the issue of electricity that was a major challenge in this area. We have also graded the access road to the slaughterhouse. This borehole facility will further transform this area into a self-sustaining community,” Ntutu said.
Under a slogan ‘Kazi Imeanza’ the governor said the projects to be implemented are those that were prioritized by residents during the public participation forums.
After the borehole launch, the governor proceeded to Nkareta, Olpusimoru, Olokurto, Olorropil and Melili wards to launch various development projects, which he expects to be completed within four months.
“Every ward has a specific project depending on the needs of the residents. Some wards prioritized construction of roads, others (prioritized hospitals, classrooms, water projects and sale yards. We will ensure that these projects are implemented as early as possible so that we can launch other projects,” he said.
The governor was accompanied by county ministers including David Muntet (Finance), Joyce Keshe (Agriculture) and Linus Nairimo (ICT) as well as Chief Officers Queen Kimorgo (Livestock) and Samuel Teum (Fisheries).
The governor has also set aside Sh370 million for bursaries for vulnerable children from poor backgrounds.
“I’m hereby directing the Governor’s Delivery Unit (GDU), who are here today with us, to immediately undertake a review of the bursary process right from the selection of the beneficiaries, the distribution of the funds to the release of the funds to various schools,” said the governor.
He further directed the GDU team to review the process the county has undertaken in procuring and distributing medical supplies and medicine to various health centers in the county.
