The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has launched nationwide sensitisation sessions to prepare stakeholders for the rollout of the new eLogbook system, ahead of the planned transition set for June 10, 2026.

The initiative marks the beginning of a structured awareness campaign aimed at ensuring smooth adoption of the digital system across the transport sector.

The authority, in a statement shared on Monday, May 25, 2026, said the sensitisation forums will bring together key stakeholders in the transport industry, including vehicle owners, fleet operators, and regulatory partners.

The sessions are intended to enhance understanding of the system’s operations and ensure a seamless transition from the current manual or semi-digital processes to the fully integrated eLogbook platform.

Smooth transition targeted

NTSA said the awareness drive is critical in ensuring that all affected parties are adequately prepared before the official rollout date.

Stakeholders have been encouraged to actively participate in the sessions to familiarise themselves with the requirements and functionality of the new system.

The Authority emphasised that early engagement will help minimise disruptions once the system becomes fully operational.

“The Authority is today kicking off sensitisation sessions for various stakeholders on the eLogbook. This initiative aims to enhance understanding and ensure smooth transition.
All stakeholders are encouraged to participate actively for the successful transition planned for Wednesday, 10th June 2026,” NTSA stated.

Push for digital transformation

The eLogbook rollout is part of broader efforts by the transport regulator to modernise road transport management and improve efficiency in monitoring vehicle usage and compliance.

NTSA had earlier announced plans to phase out paper motor vehicle logbooks and replace them with a fully digital electronic registration certificate system known as the eLogbook.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the authority said the transition is part of its broader digital transformation strategy aimed at improving efficiency, enhancing transparency, and reducing bureaucracy in road transport services across Kenya.

“Over the past five years, the Authority has made significant strides in digital transformation and road safety reform initiatives. These efforts are designed to modernize operations, enhance service delivery, and significantly improve road safety across the country,” NTSA stated.

“As part of this ongoing transformation, the Authority is pleased to announce of plans to replace the current paper-based Certificate of Registration [logbook) with a secure, convenient digital version (eLogbook). This transition marks a major milestone in the Authority’s commitment to providing efficient, paperless, and citizen-centered services.”

NTSA said the new electronic logbook system will officially go live on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Under the new system, vehicle owners will access, view, download, and verify their digital motor vehicle registration certificates through the government’s eCitizen platform.

The authority explained that the eLogbook will be fully integrated into various motor vehicle registration services, including new vehicle registration, transfer of ownership, change of vehicle particulars, vehicle inspection processes, and other related registration transactions.
