Here is what you need to know in order to get up to speed with today’s happenings.
KCSE
Today marks the end of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
Students will today sit for the Physics practical before curtains come down on the 2023 KCSE.
KCSE began in earnest on October 23, 2023, after rehearsals were held on October 19, 2023.
KCSE comes to an end today even as the Ministry of Education released the results of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.
Gachagua
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will today represent his boss William Ruto at the summit of the Committee of Ten (C-10) of the African Union Heads of State and Government on the reform of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) which will be held at Ciudad de la Paz, Equatorial Guinea.
Gachagua will join other leaders in the ongoing summit which ends today.
At the event, the DP is expected to deliver a statement on behalf of Kenya, focusing on the need to accelerate reforms by the UNSC to enhance equity in the representation of Africa.
CAF Champions League
Africa’s premier club football competition, the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League makes a return today as the group stages of the 2023/24 edition of the competition officially get underway across the continent.
Following an intense preliminary round that saw some interesting outcomes and upsets, it is now down to the 16 clubs that have been grouped into the four groups of four to resume their continental quest for glory.
Egyptian side Pyramids will have a home advantage as they host five-time CAF Champions League winner TP Mazembe from DRC.
Tanzania’s giants Young Africans (Yanga) will play an away match in Algeria against CR Belouizdad.
Europe’s top league action
Today will witness an unusual Friday night football action across the top three leagues in Europe after the international break.
In La Liga, Alaves clash with relegation-place Granada CF who are desperate for a win after a streak of losses.
In Ligue 1, PSG seek to cement their position on top of the French league as they clash with Monaco who are currently third on the table and three points behind their rival.
In Bundesliga, second-placed Bayern Munich seek to go on top of the table as they take on FC Koln who sit in the relegation zone at position 18.
