Here is what you need to know in order to get up to speed with today’s happenings.

Heavy rains

The Kenya Meteorological Department has confirmed that heavy rains are expected across the northeast, northwest, and central highlands today.

In an advisory shared on Wednesday night, the weatherman noted that the expected heavy rains will spread to Nairobi, the southeastern lowlands, the western sector and the coast.

The heavy rains are expected to continue between Friday and Sunday and reduce on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Counties that will be affected include; Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Samburu, Turkana, Embu, Nyeri, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Murang’a, Meru, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Nairobi, Busia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru, Narok, Migori, Trans Nzoia, Nandi, West Pokot, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Vihiga, Bungoma, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Siaya, Kakamega, Kajiado, Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Lamu, Tana-River, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Kilifi and Mombasa.

Electricity interruptions

Kenya Power on Wednesday night confirmed that four counties will experience planned electricity interruptions today.

According to the utility company, counties such as Nairobi, Nyandarua, Kilifi and Mombasa will be affected by the interruptions set to start from 9 am to 5 pm.

In Nairobi, areas that will be affected include part of Riverside, part of Waiyaki Way, ICEA Lions, part of Riverside Drive, Riverside Gardens, UoN Chiromo mortuary, part of Ring RoadWestlands Lane, part of Mutithi Road, part of Westland’s Road, Woodvale Groove, part of Ojijo Road and adjacent customers.

Similarly, all areas in Engineer Town such as Engineer Brookside, Mike Eden, Ndunyu Njeru Town, KDI, Karima Girls, Nandras, Ndinda, Kaimba, Mkungi, Najibi Town, Sasumwa, and Kinamba areas in Nyandarua county will be affected.

In Kilifi, the electricity interruptions will affect areas such as Simakeni, Kaliangombe, Kokotoni centre, Corrogated, Iron Africa, Jimba Village, Jimba Secondary, Boyani Village, Kaoyeni and adjacent customers will be affected.

As for Mombasa, the planned power outage will affect areas such as Tudor Catholic, Tudor Mwisho, Tudor Water, Sports, Mary Cliff, Kaa Chonjo, Nyumba ya Wazee, Simba Colt, Inspectorate, PCEA Makupa, Posta Houses, Kisiwi, St Kevin, part of Tudor and adjacent customers will be affected.
