‘Niteteeni kwa rais nisiamke saa kumi’ – Gachagua pleads with Kenyans
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday, March 14, 2024, asked residents in Kericho to plead with the president to change his work schedule.
Gachagua, while addressing the area residents, complained that his early schedule has been a pain in the neck for him.
He noted that the president should revert the start of his work time from 4 am to 5 am since he is ageing and is unable to keep up.
The DP also explained being married to Pastor Dorcas, the early morning schedule is a daunting task for him.
“Kuna pahali rais ananiumiza, yeye akijaribu kutengeneza Kenya pia ananiumiza kidogo, hawa mawaziri na nini wanaamka saa tisa, anasema ti mimi Riggy G niamke saa kumi na mnajua mimi ni mzee kidogo na mnajua pia mimi ni bwana ya pastor hatuezi amka mapema sana. Nataka mkubali mnitetetee kwa rais nisiamke saa kumi niamke saa kumi na moja,” Gachagua said.
Gachagua’s recent complaint contradicts his earlier statements during the 2022 General Election campaigns.
In his speech at the time, the DP, then a running mate to President William Ruto, stated that he was an early riser who was hardworking and passionate about serving the people of Kenya. He also confirmed that he had 35 years of experience in public service.
Outlining his manifesto for the country, Gachagua stated that he had a fairly good idea of how to serve as the country’s deputy.
“I’m hardworking, passionate, I wake up early, I don’t take alcohol and I have all the time and commitment to serve the people of Kenya. I have a fairly good idea of how to assist Ruto to serve this country. The people of Kenya are in anguish, they are in a state of helplessness, they need hope,” the DP said on July 19, 2022.
The country’s second-in-command also assured Kenyans that he would assist the government in resuscitating the country’s dwindling economy.
