Night inferno kills 3 children in Chepalungu, Bomet County

Confirming the unfortunate incident on his X handle on Thursday, July 2, 2026, Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei has said that the victims, a seven-year-old child and two six-year-old twins, reportedly lost their lives after a fire engulfed the kitchen where they had been sleeping.
The blaze is said to have spread rapidly, trapping the children inside. The cause of the fire had not been established by the time of publication.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of three innocent children, a 7-year-old and two 6-year-old twins who lost their lives after a fire consumed the kitchen where they were sleeping at Kimatisio Village, Nyongores Ward, Chepalungu Constituency,” Sigei stated.

The heartbreaking tragedy has sparked an outpouring of grief from leaders and residents, with Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei leading tributes to the young victims.
In a condolence message, Sigei said he was deeply saddened by the loss of the three innocent children, describing the incident as a devastating reminder of the pain that unexpected disasters can inflict on families.
“My heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, and the entire Kimatisio community during this painful and unimaginable time. No words can truly ease the pain of losing young lives in such a tragic manner,” the senator said.
Sigei pledges support to the victims’ family
Sigei noted that the deaths had not only affected the immediate family but had also cast a cloud of sorrow over the entire Chepalungu constituency as residents struggled to come to terms with the loss of three children whose lives were cut short.

The senator has assured the bereaved family that they will not face the difficult period alone, pledging support as they navigate the painful process of mourning.
