Ngunjiri Wambugu: Gachagua is trying to spin his impeachment narrative
By Mabonga Makhanu, August 24, 2025Former Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has launched a scathing attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of attempting to spin the narrative surrounding his impeachment.
In a statement shared on his social media pages on Sunday, August 24, 2025, Wambugu claimed that Gachagua is trying to rewrite the story of how his impeachment unfolded.
According to the former legislator, Gachagua is presenting a distorted version of events with the hope that the public will overlook the circumstances that led to his removal from office.

Wambugu maintained that the impeachment was not orchestrated by political enemies, as Gachagua has suggested in his recent addresses, but rather by individuals who were once his close allies. He argued that these allies, having known him personally and politically, resolved to cut ties after growing disillusioned with his leadership style and approach to power.
The former MP added that Gachagua’s downfall was the product of his own political missteps, pointing to arrogance and the inability to manage relationships at the highest level of government. He dismissed efforts to portray the impeachment as a conspiracy against Gachagua, framing it instead as the natural outcome of his strained relations within the political establishment
“Gachagua is trying to rewrite the narrative around his impeachment. He hopes we will forget that he was impeached by his friends & allies, who knew him well, due to pride, hubris & an inability to manage high-level political power,” Ngunjiri stated.
Gachagua’s sentiments
This is after Gachagua was quoted by a local publication claiming that his impeachment was a blessing in disguise, as his statue had grown immensely to levels that he never imagined, arguing that he regrets questioning God for allowing his impeachment to take place
“Today, I thank God for the blessing of that impeachment. At first, I suffered, believing God had forsaken me. Today I know better, and I’m sorry for questioning God’s ways. My stature has grown to levels I could not have imagined,” Gachagua was quoted.
In response to this, Ngunjiri has also not spared Gachagua; he went ahead to dare him to drop all the impeachment cases involving him
