Thursday demonstrations
The public has vowed to continue with demonstrations this Thursday, despite President William Ruto declining to sign the Finance Bill 2024.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged the youth to call off the demonstrations, but there has been a strong push on social media to continue with the protests.
Scheduled power outage
A power outage scheduled for this Thursday, June 27, 2024, is set to impact four counties across Kenya, according to an announcement from Kenya Power.
The blackout, planned for maintenance purposes, will affect several areas at different times of the day. While temporary, the outage is expected to impact various sectors and activities in the affected counties. Kenya Power stated that the Thursday power interruption will affect Nairobi, Samburu, Nyeri, and Kiambu Counties.
In Nairobi, part of Lucky Summer and Dandora will experience an outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting areas such as Tiba Primary, Ngunyumu Primary, Ngomongo, Dandora Dumpsite, and Dandora Phases 2, 3, and 4, among others.
Part of Jogoo Road, including Buruburu Phase 5 and nearby supermarkets, will also be affected during the same hours. Additionally, parts of Ngara and Parklands, including Mushembi Rd and UoN Parklands Law Campus, will be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In Samburu, areas like Posta, Suguta, and Churo will face outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, impacting locations such as Mugie Ranch and Maralal Town.
In Nyeri, Chaka Ranch and Milimani Chaka will be affected from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with several industrial and residential areas experiencing the outage. In Kiambu, various areas including Nyacaba, Maraba, Kamakis, Gatong’ora, and Raini Loreto will be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting multiple residential and commercial locations.
Harambee Stars U23 first match
Harambee Stars U23 will kick off their group stage matches on Thursday, June 27, against Zambia, followed by games against Comoros on June 30 and Zimbabwe on July 2.
The Kenya U23 national team, Emerging Stars, held their first and final training session in South Africa on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in preparation for their opening match in the COSAFA Cup.
