A witness yesterday narrated in court how a city tycoon Mohan Galot of London Distillers fraudulently transferred shares to his wife in an attempt to disinherit his other relatives from controlling the multi-billion shilling estate.
Narendra Galot, a nephew to Mohan, gave an account of how his uncle changed the shares of his father, the late Lalchand Galot, to his wife without any consent or knowledge of his family members.
While testifying before Milimani Court magistrate Gilbert Shikwe, Narendra said he is the current administrator of the estate of the late Lalchand Galot who he says was his father.
While accusing his uncle of forgeries, Narendra told the court that Mohan, his father’s younger brother, only owned one share in the disputed property.
Narendra said he remembers sometimes in the year 1983, his late father was allocated one management share in Manchester Outfitters Division Limited. Manchester Outfitters is a garment company renowned for supply of police uniforms.
The court heard that the late Lalchand Galot and Mohan Galot had one management share each. The two are brothers co-owned the property.
“My father also owned 25 percent shareholding of Galot Industries which is also a major shareholder of King Woolen Mills Limited,“ he added.
The witness further stated that the company’s name Manchester Outfitters Suiting Division Limited was later changed to King Woolen Mills Limited without his involvement, despite it being a family business.
