Narok governor shares details on funeral plans for MP Johana Ng’eno
By Cynthia Lodite, March 2, 2026Narok County Governor Patrick Ole Ntuntu has issued an update on the burial arrangements of the Emurua Dikir Member of Parliament and five others who died following a tragic helicopter accident.
Speaking to members of the press on Monday, March 2, 2026, Governor Ntutu explained the Kalenjin traditions expected to be followed before the burial is conducted.
“I wish to inform the nation and our community that preparations for the burial of the Late Hon. Johana Ngeno and the five other individuals who tragically lost their lives alongside him are currently underway,” Ntutu said.
On the other hand, Ntutu confirmed that burial dates are yet to be confirmed, saying that the five families will have meetings and select their preferred date, which will later be communicated.
“Hatutasema siku ya mazishi mpaka familia zote za watu watano waketi chini na wakubaliane ni siku gani,” Ntutu explained.
In addition, Ntutu has confirmed that a Requiem Mass will be held on Wednesday at the Baptist Church, followed by the Kalenjin customs.
“On Wednesday tutakua na maombi maalum pale Baptist Church, on Thursday miili miwili zitaletwa hapa nyumbani kulingana na tradition ya jamii ya wakalenjin,” he added.
Governor Ntutu has announced that further details regarding the funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.

Ntutu’s tribute to Son-in-Law
On the other hand, Ole Ntuntu has paid a heartfelt tribute to his son‑in‑law and close political ally, Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ngeno, who was among six people killed in a tragic helicopter crash in Mosop Sub‑County, Nandi County, on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
In a statement shared via his X account on Monday, March 2, Ntuntu described the loss as deeply overwhelming and expressed sympathy to the families of all the victims.
“My heart is heavy as I mourn my friend, political confidant, and son‑in‑law,” Ntuntu said.
“I conveyed my heartfelt condolences at Mogondo Village in Emurua Dikirr to the family of the late Hon. Johana Ngeno and met representatives of the other bereaved families. May their souls rest in eternal peace.”
He also extended sympathy to the families of Wycliffe Rono alias Sportpesa, Kenya Forest Service officer Amos Kipngetich Rotich, Carlos Keter, and Nick Kosgey, all of whom died in the crash.
“Pole sana to the people of Emurua Dikirr, Transmara, Narok County, the Kipsigis community, and the entire Kalenjin nation,” the governor said.
