The Nairobi-Garissa road has been opened after the Kenya National Highways Authority solved the washout at Kona Punda and Mororo in Madogo.

With the area sorted, traffic is now flowing along Madogo-Garissa allowing the movement to and from Nairobi which has been affected for almost seven days.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority is pleased to inform the public that the last washout at Kona Punda and Mororo in Madogo has now been successfully addressed. This has enabled traffic flow along Madogo – Garissa (A3) Road,” KENHA announced.

The Authority encouraged traders to capitalize on the road opening to provide essential goods to residents in the affected area who have faced shortages.

They also expressed gratitude to the residents for their patience during the restoration period.

“Effectively, motorists can now move from Nairobi to Garissa, all the affected section having been restored. The Authority encourages traders to take advantage of this free flow of traffic and supply the residents of the Garisa and the surrounding areas,” KENHA stated

“The residents have been without essential supplies for some time following the road cut-off occasioned by flooding. The Authority appreciates the patience of all Kenyans during this period of reinstatement.

KENHA has pledged to stay present in the region, overseeing and providing regular updates to road users, ensuring a smooth and informed travel experience.

“The KeNHA team remains on the ground to monitor and alert of any new developments as they ensure seamlessly connectivity along the entire stretch. Safe travels to all,” the statement.
