Limuru MP Peter Mwathi has yesterday accused the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), which is associated with Deputy President William Ruto using the people of Kiambaa as guinea pigs to test its popularity ahead of the polls next year.

He warned Kiambaa voters to shun the UDA candidate Njuguna Wanjiku saying that by electing him they will be consigning themselves to the opposition.

“UDA is a faceless party which is using the Mt Kenya region and specifically Kiambaa as its laboratory to test and weigh its popularity,” said Mwathi in Muchatha while campaigning for Jubilee party candidate Kariri Njama.

Formidable entity

Exuding confidence that Njama will be elected with a landslide, he described the ruling party as a formidable entity whose leader President Uhuru Kenyatta was focused on uniting the country.

“We shall remain firm in the party under the leadership of Uhuru. We now know the rats which have been eating the party from within and hence we won’t burn the whole house but will instead throw them out,” said Mwathi who chairs the powerful Parliamentary Administration and Security committee.

The MP dared all the rebel Jubilee legislators to tender their resignations to the speaker of the National Assembly and seek fresh mandate from voters, “if they think they are popular.”

He called upon voters in the sub-county to be wary of  propaganda being peddled by UDA sympathisers to the effect that Jubilee has since been swallowed by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

“Jubilee is a national party with elected leaders in almost all the 47 counties and is still very strong not only here but across the country”, he said.

He was echoed by his Nyeri Town counterpart Ngunjiri Wambugu who said that Kiambaa voters will make a serious mistake if the fail to vote for Njama.

“UDA is not in government as its proponents are purporting. You should elect a jubilee MP who can easily complete all the projects the late Paul Koinange had initiated”, he said.

Njama who was present during the  campaign tour pleaded with voters to turn out in large numbers and cast their votes in his favour.

“I plead with you to use your vote in choosing a leader whose leadership acumen you all know.

I have been with you from 2013 and you can attest that I hardly go underground even after losing narrowly to the late Koinange,” he said.
