Muturi urges Gen Zs to register as voters ahead of decisive 2027 showdown
As the United Opposition gears up for a decisive 2027 contest with President William Ruto, the former Attorney General, Justin Muturi, has asked young Kenyans to register as voters.
The former Cabinet Secretary for Public Service made the comment after engaging the residents of various parts of Meru County on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
“Today we toured the Igembe South, Igembe North, Tigania East and Tigania West constituencies in Meru County, where we had the opportunity to engage with our people and listen to their concerns and aspirations,” Muturi stated in a social media post.
“The reception was truly epic. I was deeply encouraged by the warmth, energy, and determination of the people of Igembe. Our conversations were candid and focused on the future of our country.
“Together, we agreed on one critical step that must begin immediately: our young people must go out in large numbers to register as voters. The power to change the direction of our country lies in the ballot,” he added.

The former National Assembly Speaker reminded the youth, popularly identified as Gen Zs, of the importance of registering as voters.
“It is through the vote that citizens hold leaders accountable and correct the mistakes of bad governance. If we want to remove this rogue government and restore responsible leadership, we must prepare ourselves at the ballot box,” the former Siakago Member of Parliament continued.
“I urge the youth across Meru and the entire country: register, organise, and participate. The future of Kenya belongs to you, and your voice must be heard where it matters most, in the vote.”
