Muturi to take over from Kihara at Judicial Service Commission
Chief Justice Martha Koome will today preside over the swearing-in of Attorney General Justin Muturi as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
The former National Assembly Speaker is taking over from Kihara Kariuki.
Part of the work which awaits Muturi (pictured) is managing relations between the Executive and the Judiciary.
During vetting by the National Assembly, Muturi promised to ensure that the Judiciary will have cordial relations with the Executive.
“I promise to do my best to give the best advice to the government both in the national and county in a collaborative way as stated in the Constitution,” he said.
The Attorney General, who is the chief government legal adviser, also approves all commercial contracts drawn by ministries, departments and agencies.
Muturi said that he will also take on new roles such as formulating legal policies and ensuring proper administration of Kenya’s legal system including professional legal education.
