Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale has defended Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi over his stance on abduction cases in the country.

In a video shared on his X account on Saturday, February 1, 2025, Khalwale said that Muturi is speaking on behalf of Kenyans who want abductions to end. The legislator asked the president not to listen to those who want him to sack Muturi as CS.

“Mimi kama kiongozi katika taifa letu la Kenya mwenye nilikupenda na ninakupenda, nilikutafutia kura, umenipatia majukumu ya kutekeleza. Sasa ningependa nikuombe peupe kwamba kuna watu wenye wanataka kuchochea waheshimiwa waziri wako Justin Muturi.

“Therefore, I stand with the president to support him positively. Nawaona vijana wadogo akina Kimani Ichung’wah sijui nani ndio wanaambia president eti amwage petroli kwa mto eti fukuza Justin Muturi. No, Muturi is speaking on behalf of millions of Kenyans wenye wanataka maneno ya abductions ikwishe,” Khalwale said.

Concerned Muturi

The former Ikolomani Member of Parliament added that Muturi, as a parent, was irked when his son was abducted.

“Mtoto wake alishikwa akapotea. Mwenyewe kama mzazi mtoto wako akishikwa mateka apotee hauwezi kuwa na furaha. Sasa Muturi amekasirika na anataka kujua ni nani alishika mtoto wake.

“Wengine wameanza kusema Muturi must resign…Muturi must be sacked. Shame on you. How do you sack a father kwa sababu he is concerned about the abduction of his child?” he asked.

Khalwale argued that the president has the sole mandate to end the reported cases of abductions in the country.

“Ndio ningependa kumwambia President Ruto usisikize wale ambao wanasema umwachishe Justin Muturi kazi kama waziri. Kitu ya maana yenye utafanya ukubali kwamba watu wakiuliza maswali kuhusu abductions sio kwamba wanasema serikali ndio inatenda hio.

“Wanasema wewe kama president, chukua jukumu kama president wetu uhakikishe maneno ya abduction imeisha. That is all.

“Even if I am the president of Kenya tomorrow, you will expect me to stop abductions. Otherwise, mtakuwa mumenipigia kura ya nini,” he added.

Since he started criticising the government, some leaders have called on Muturi to resign.
