United Democratic Alliance (UDA) chairman Johnstone Muthama has insisted that the party will conduct free and fair nominations.

Muthama said that not even the founding members will get direct nomination tickets.

“UDA will conduct free and fair nominations and no one should feel so special to be merited direct nomination.

“We cannot dismiss like-minded people from joining Hustler Nation simply because someone claims to be among the founders,” Muthama wrote on Twitter.

His sentiments come after Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici decamped from the party citing unfairness.

She said she will run for Kirinyaga governor seat on an independent ticket.

“The people themselves will decide through nominations without favoritism and there will be no conmanship in getting UDA ticket. Democracy must be exercised,” Muthama added.

Ngirici became uncomfortable with Anne Waiguru’s entry to the party ahead of 2022 general elections.

Waiguru will defend her seat on a UDA ticket.
