Mutahi Ngunyi claims that Azimio funded Wajackoyah’s manifesto launch to irritate Ruto

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has revealed that Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah’s presidential bid was a deliberate move to sabotage William Ruto’s presidential bid.

Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Saturday, August 12, 2023, Ngunyi asserted that the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition carefully curated tactics to surpass Ruto. Among the tactics he claimed was funding Wajackoyah’s Manifesto launch which was held at the same time as the Kenya Kwanza manifesto launch.

He went on to state that the move to schedule the two events at the same time was to irritate Ruto during his Manifesto speech.

“I got a little bit of it from the friends of Uhuru Kenyatta and we funded Wajackoyah’s launch and the way we did it is that we wanted it to happen on the same day that Ruto was doing his launch. Our thinking is that Ruto is of a choleric temper so I wanted to do this as a way of irritating him so that when you have half screens on the TVs,” he stated.

Similarly, Ngunyi took a swipe at Wajackoyah for not living up to the task he was mandated to fulfil. He slammed the Roots leader for costing Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s win in the 2022 General Election.

Dear wajacoyah. At the core, you are what political scientists call a useful idiot. Clever, but stupid. That is why we funded your manifesto launch to irritate ruto. If I was allowed to use you, a run-off was inevitable. And babaman would be president today,” he wrote.
