A section of Murang’a MCAs have fired warning shots at President William Ruto, slamming the president for engaging them in lies and unfulfilled promises.

Speaking after meeting Rigathi Gachagua on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Wamunyoro’s residence, the MCAs led by Maurice Thuku, the county assembly’s majority whip, vowed to support and submit to the direction of the former DP henceforth.

Grace City Nduta of Kanyenyaini ward stated that the county’s leadership and region had decided to stand with Gachagua after being duped by the current administration.

“We are here to affirm that we are not interested in the money meant for capitation and that meant for SHA and SHIF. We have listened to the Murang’a people, and we say we will listen to Gachagua and the direction he will give us. This is the message from the 35 wards of the country. It is not the first time we have been invited, but we got lies and bribes in one basket,” she stated.

On her part, Kinyona Ward MCA, Liz Mbugua, hit out at the president for desecrating the presidential official residence and engaging in misguided politics.

Respect the ex-DP

“State House has become a campaign room. It is no longer the house we used to honour and give respect. We are here to condemn that and assure you it is one-term, we don’t want your money, but we assure you we will vote you out,” the majority deputy leader stated.

She also extended a message to women in Murang’a to respect the DCP leader as their in-law.

“The DP is our in-law and we want to tell our women to give due respect to Murang’a County and ensure whatever we do, we respect the name of our county,” she added.

On his part, Bernard Roiro, Mbiru ward MCA in Kiharu constituency, highlighted a series of unmet promises from the Kenya Kwanza government.

MCA Steven Kimani assured the former DP of support, stressing that they had refused to be bought and were committing their allegiance to the DCP leader.

“We are here because we have refused to board a boat that is sinking. We have muranga people behind us and we are committed to follow you,” he stated.

The MCAs spoke while a separate faction made a trip to the State House to meet with President William Ruto.
