Mudavadi reveals details of meeting with 4,000 teachers in Malava
By Arnold Ngure, August 6, 2025Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has revealed the details of his meeting with over 4,000 teachers in Malava constituency.
In a statement on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Mudavadi divulged the details of the meeting which brought together Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok, Interior PS Raymond Omollo, and local leaders.
“Spent this Tuesday in the company of over 4,000 passionate teachers from Malava Constituency, Kakamega County, who gathered at Tande Secondary School for a truly energizing and thought-provoking dialogue on the future of education in our region,” Mudavadi said.
Issues affecting teachers and learners
“This remarkable forum offered a rare opportunity for open, honest, and forward-looking discussions. Together, we reflected on our journey, where we’ve come from, where we stand today, and the direction we must take to strengthen our education system for generations to come.”

Mudavadi says the conversation focused on key issues affecting the education sector in the country, including capitation, teachers’ employment and promotions, as well as problems affecting learners.
“Our conversation explored key reforms in the education sector, the rollout of new policies, and practical strategies for tackling challenges affecting teachers, learners, and the wider school ecosystem,” Mudavadi said.
Employment opportunities
“We reaffirmed our shared commitment to advancing the quality of education, improving learning environments, and ensuring that no child is left behind. This aligns with the bold steps taken by President William Ruto’s administration, including the Ksh702 billion allocated to education by Parliament.”

“Key priorities remain: the employment of an additional 20,000 teachers, teacher promotions, a review of school and tertiary capitation models, and renewed focus on the welfare of both educators and students,” he added.
The meeting comes amid an intense campaign in Malava to replace the late MP Malulu Injendi, who passed on after long battle with an illness while in office.
Some of the frontrunners in the race to replace Injendi include DCP’s Edgar Busiega, Seth Panyako of the United Democratic Party (UDP), management consultant Caleb Sunguti of the Roots Party, retired Bungoma High School Principal Enock Andanje, and the deceased MP’s son Ryan Injendi, who works for the Parliamentary Service Commission.
