Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has shared details about the construction and compensation of landowners affected by the construction process of the Kidundu Stadium in Vihiga County.

In a statement on Thursday, March 19, 2026, Mudavadi explained that the ten-thousand-seater stadium is set to transform Vihiga’s sporting landscape while unlocking new opportunities for youths.

“Kidundu Stadium is set to become a flagship project implemented by the Kenya Kwanza Government that will transform Vihiga’s sporting landscape and unlock new opportunities for our youth. Together with H.E. President @WilliamsRuto,” Mudavadi stated.

According to Mudavadi, the project, which will be implemented by the Kenya Defence Forces, is scheduled for completion within the next nine months, marking a major step forward in expanding modern sports infrastructure across the country.

In addition, Mudavadi has assured residents affected by the construction of the Stadium of strict and fair compensation, which he said will be effected within the next two months in line with the government’s commitment.

“I also assured affected landowners that due process will be strictly followed and fair compensation will be effected within the next two months, in line with Government commitments,” he added.

“As we break ground, we also remember those who envisioned this stadium but are no longer with us. Today, their dream begins to take shape, and Vihiga moves closer to a future defined by opportunity, talent and progress,” Mudavadi added.

The 10,000-seater stadium is part of a national directive by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), William Samoei Ruto, to construct modern stadia aimed at boosting sporting activities, empowering youth, and nurturing local talent.

The facility is expected to serve as a key hub for sports development and socio-economic growth within Vihiga County and the wider Western region.

The construction of Kidundu Stadium was implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Defence through KDF, in collaboration with the County Government of Vihiga and the Ministry of Sports.

In addition, the Ministry of Defence, through its engineering expertise, vowed to ensure adherence to quality standards, value for money, and timely execution.

The proposed stadium is expected to significantly enhance sports infrastructure in Vihiga County by providing a modern facility that will nurture talent, promote youth engagement, and contribute to sustainable community development.
