The PCS passed his condolences to the deceased widow, Alice Andanje Were, and Andanje’s mother, Mama Selina Choti, and the three children surviving the retired teacher.
In a touching tribute shared via his X page, Mudavadi bemoaned the sudden death of the politician who collapsed and died on Friday, August 15, 2025, as he prepared to join the Prime Cabinet Secretary for a campaign event in the constituency.
Left too soon
“Dr. Andanje, who was among our UDA aspirants in the upcoming Malava by-election, has left us far too soon. His passing is not only a deep loss to his family but also a setback to our community and the democratic journey he was prepared to champion,” he stated.
The PCS hailed the deceased as a man devoted to community service, terming his demise as a significant loss to the education sector.
“The education sector has equally lost a remarkable and selfless leader. As the immediate former principal of Bungoma High School, Dr. Andanje dedicated his life to nurturing young minds. His decision to take early retirement in order to serve the people of Malava is a true reflection of his commitment to community service and leadership,” his tribute read.
In a show of solidarity with the grieving family, Mudavadi delivered a contribution of Ksh1 million from President William Ruto, along with his own contribution of Ksh300,000, to support the family with burial preparations.
