Msambweni race now a supremacy war between Joho, Mvurya

Politicians  allied  to Deputy President  (DP) William Ruto have descended to  Msambweni to rally support for independent candidate Feisal Abdallah, even as Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his group has made a strong pitch for the election of Omari Boga.

And with five days to the by-election, it has fast turned into a supremacy war between Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya and Joho, who is also the ODM deputy party leader.

Those supporting Mvurya argue that he is best placed to lead Coast region in national politics because of his development track record compared to Joho. Mvurya is leading campaigns for Abdallah.

During the campaigns yesterday in Ramisi ward, Abdallah was accompanied by Mvurya, Nyali MP Mohamed Ali, his Malindi counterpart Aisha Jumwa, former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar and Kwale deputy governor Fatuma Achani.

Rude shock

Omar said electing Abdallah will be equally supporting Mvurya’s leadership in the national politics because of his development record compared to his Mombasa counterpart.

“Coast region will soon be employing people from Kwale because of Mvurya’s performance in the area while other counties are bringing musicians for entertainment,” he claimed.

Jumwa said the Mijikenda were safe under Mvurya’s leadership and urged voters to support his candidate, Abdallah in the election.

“Let us rescue Coast region from ODM dictatorship by supporting Feisal,” she said.

Ali warned those planning to steal votes during the by-election will be in for a rude shock. Mvurya said that they will guard all votes cast and ensure their candidate wins.

 The Kwale county boss two weeks ago asked Joho to keep off the area but  the ODM deputy party leader has vowed to pitch tent as he campaigns for Boga. 

Achani claimed that politicians from other regions have continued to campaign in the area insulting county leadership who have good development record instead of helping them.

”Show them that this region has its people by electing Feisal,” she urged.

But while campaigning in Kinondo ward,accompanied by businessman Suleiman Shabaal, Boga took a swipe at governor Mvurya’s leadership saying that it has failed.

Shahbal said that Kwale and Mombasa are connected in business and that they can’t be separated since majority of Kwale people work in Mombasa.
