Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana has urged his constituents to cooperate with the police and national government administration officers to curb crime in the constituency.
Ikana said yesterday that the sour relations between police and members of the public should come to an end as it negatively impacted the fight against insecurity.
Crack down
He said police would not be able to crack down on crime of they do not get reliable information from citizens.
“The police, chiefs and other government officers charged with maintaining law and order are members of our families and communities. We should, thus, treat them with dignity and work with them to secure ourselves and property,” he added.
Ikana made the remarks when he donated a bull to law enforcers stationed in the constituency towards their planned End-Year party. He regretted that the security personnel had always been overlooked yet they played a critical role in protecting citizens and their property.
“More often than not we usually forget the sacrifices made by these wonderful men and women in uniform who ensure our safety and that of our property,” he added.
The legislator said he had grand plans to secure all his constituents and visitors.
“I will build an ultra-modern, digitally-compliant police station in Central Shinyalu with supportive and fully functional outposts in every sub-location,” he added.
