MP petitions IG Police to investigate officers

By , January 5, 2024

Borabu MP Patrick Osero has petitioned Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki and the Inspector General of Police, Japheth Koome to urgently institute an investigation into the conduct of senior and junior police officers in Borabu sub-county alleging that they were part of a gang which has been terrorising the area residents.

Osero at the same time demanded the immediate transfer of all police officers who have overstayed in the area saying the same officers were part of the ring, which is involved in thuggery, robbery and cattle theft.

“Some of the officers have stayed in this sub-county for more than seven years during which they have been involved in crime,” Osero told journalists.

He further claimed that police officers were always spending much of their time in drinking sprees, demanding bribes from residents for security services.

Osero remarks follow a series of robberies and cattle theft incidents which have rocked the constituency for the last three months. No arrests have been made so far.

The latest causality was the Nyansiongo MCA Dennis Kebaso who was attacked on Sunday night by armed thugs and robbed of money and other valuables.
