MP Mohamed Ali makes special appeal to Cyrus Jirongo’s family ahead of postmortem
By David Nthua, December 17, 2025Nyali Member of Parliament (MP), Mohamed Ali, alias Jicho Pevu, has sent a request to the family of the late Cyrus Jirongo.
Through a post on his X handle on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Ali stated that the family should have its own pathologist before allowing the postmortem to be conducted.
Ali advises Jirongo’s family
Ali also shared an undated video clip of the former Lugari MP speaking on a local television station, in which Jirongo appeared to speak about assassinations and fears for his personal safety, remarks that have since resurfaced amid intense public debate surrounding his death.

“To the Family of the Late Cyrus Jirongo, please make sure you have your own pathologist in that room tomorrow.
“The story doesn’t add up. I interviewed him once, and Jirongo had, over time, expressed fears for his safety,” MP Mohamed Ali wrote on X.

The outspoken legislator’s appeal has triggered fresh reactions online, with Kenyans questioning the circumstances surrounding the fatal road crash that claimed Jirongo’s life.
Ali’s message came just hours after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) released its preliminary findings into the incident, dismissing claims that the crash scene had been tampered with and confirming that investigations were ongoing.
DCI findings on Jirongo’s death
According to the DCI, the accident occurred on the night of December 13, 2025, at the Karai area along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway.
Detectives established that Jirongo’s vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a public service bus owned by Climax Company Ltd at around 2:19 am.
The DCI further revealed that the bus driver, identified as Tyrus Kamau Githinji, has been re-summoned and is expected to report to the Naivasha Traffic Base on December 22, 2025.
He was earlier released on cash bail and is facing charges of causing death by dangerous driving.

Investigators disclosed that CCTV footage recovered from a nearby petrol station captured Jirongo driving into the station moments before the crash and later rejoining the highway, where the collision occurred seconds later.
Forensic experts and homicide detectives have since secured key exhibits and recorded statements from witnesses, including petrol station staff.
An autopsy on Jirongo’s body is scheduled for Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Jirongo, a former Cabinet minister and two-time Lugari MP, died aged 80, sparking widespread mourning and intense public scrutiny.
As investigations continue, Ali’s remarks have added a new layer to the unfolding narrative, with calls for transparency and independent verification gaining momentum ahead of the postmortem.
