MP Majimbo furious over Ford-Kenya polls held without his knowledge
By Mabonga Makhanu, August 20, 2025Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga has expressed exasperation over polls conducted in his constituency by the Ford-Kenya party to replace the late Chwele Kabuchai MCA James Barasa, who previously held the party chairmanship seat.
Addressing the media at his home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Kalasinga questioned how the party could organise such an exercise without informing him, despite the polls being held in his own constituency.
The MP directed his anger at Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga, who oversaw the polls. He accused her of being the problem within Ford-Kenya, wondering why, despite both serving in the National Assembly, she could not inform him of the election in Kabuchai but instead chose to conduct it silently. He went further to suggest that she may have acted under instructions from elsewhere.
“Catherine Wambilianga, you are the problem in this party; tunakaa na wewe bunge, kwa nini usinipigie simu uniambie unakuja Kabichai kusimamia uchaguzi wa uchairman,” Majimbo stated.
Kalasinga declared that from now on, matters would not be well between him and the Woman Representative, warning that a political war had begun between them both in Kabuchai and beyond.
“From today, Catherine Wambilianga, you must know, tumefungua vita mimi na wewe, kabuchai and beyond,” He stated
Majimbo has also responded back at the party over his association with Transnzoia Governor George Natembeya’s Tawe slogan, arguing that the Tawe slogan is not a party but a slogan aimed at refusing bad leadership, just like his past stances insisting that he is a member of the party
Majimbo’s woes
This confrontation comes at a time when the Kabuchai legislator has been at loggerheads with the Wetangula-led party.
His differences with Ford-Kenya date back to 2023, when he voted against the Finance Bill despite the party supporting it.

He made similar moves in subsequent votes in 2024, including taking a different position during the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In recent months, Kalasinga has increasingly been associated with opposition MPs under the banner of Kenya Moja, with the group conducting empowerment forums across various constituencies.
Despite his disagreements with Ford-Kenya, Kalasinga has often maintained that he will never speak ill of party leader and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, acknowledging him as a key figure in his political rise.
