Moses Kuria dissolves his party, joins Ruto’s UDA

Nominated Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria has officially dissolved his Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party to join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) movement.

Speaking during a funeral service in Elgeyo Marakwet, the former legislator announced that he had officially moved to the Ruto-led party adding that he had already notified the Office of Registrar of Political parties (ORRP).

“Up to yesterday I was the chair of a party called Chama cha Kazi, I dissolved it and went through the registrar and joined UDA. I also want us to join hands and once nominations are over you give us the name of the candidate so that we can appoint him,” he stated.

Kuria roots for UDA

He also asked the area residents to vote for a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate in the forthcoming by-election to replace Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

On his part, Murkomen who was appointed to serve as CS for Roads, Transport and Public works by President William Ruto, affirmed that he was willing to lend a hand to any candidate who would succeed him.

“Whoever will be vying just ask for my vote and then I shall vet, but the ultimate decision on who will be your next senator is from the people. And I will support any Senator who will be elected a hundred percent,” he stated.

What happens after

Kuria, a staunch Ruto supporter, had earlier announced that he was seeking to merge with UDA.

Following the move, the registrar of political parties Ann Nderitu is expected to gazette that the party has been dissolved within seven days so that the members of the party are regarded as part of the ruling party and remove particulars of the Chama Cha Kazi party from the official register.

Among the particulars are names, symbols, logos, slogans, colours and all other things associated with the party.

At the same time, the registrar of parties is expected to transfer all records, assets, party funds, liabilities, obligations and rights to the wheelbarrow party.
