Mombasa Governor and ODM Deputy Party leader, Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir, has led the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) fraternity in mourning the death of Mzee Shaikh Hamid Khamis Muhammad Bin Juma, the father of Mombasa ODM Chairman Muhammad Hamid Khamis, popularly known as Chairman Dee.

In a heartfelt condolence message issued on X on Sunday, November 30, 2025, the ODM’s Deputy Party Leader described the late Mzee Shaikh Hamid as a respected and influential elder whose life left a lasting impact on his family and the wider Mombasa community. The Governor expressed the depth of his sorrow upon learning of the elder’s passing.

“I have received with profound sadness the news of the passing of Mzee Shaikh Hamid Khamis Muhammad Bin Juma, the father of our brother Muhammad Hamid Khamis (Dee), Chairman of the ODM Party in Mombasa,” the statement reads.

Governor Abdullswamad described the late Mzee Shaikh Hamid as a respected elder, a pillar of his family, and a man whose values continue to live on through his children and the community he served.

“Mzee Shaikh Hamid was not only a respected elder but also the guiding pillar of his family, raising children who continue to make immense contributions to our community and our political fraternity. His wisdom and generosity of spirit live on through Chairman Dee and his siblings,” he said.

The Governor expressed solidarity with the Khamis and Joho families, noting that the loss is shared across the party and the wider Mombasa community.

“On my own behalf and that of the ODM family, I convey heartfelt condolences to Chairman Dee and the entire Khamis and Joho families. We mourn with you, and we stand with you in prayer during this moment of deep grief,” he stated.

The governor concluded with a prayer for the late elder, praying for the family to get strength and comfort after the loss of their loved one.

“We ask Allah (SWT) to forgive Mzee Shaikh Hamid’s shortcomings, to expand his grave with light, and to grant him Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah also grant Chairman Dee and his family the patience, strength, and comfort needed in these trying times. Ameen. May Allah’s mercy and peace be upon him,” the message reads.

The governor assured the family of the full support, solidarity and prayers of the ODM community during their moment of loss.
