‘I accept the apology’ – Miguna claims Ruto’s administration apologised for his deportation

By , January 14, 2023

Lawyer and activist Miguna Miguna now says President William Ruto has issued him an apology for his deportation to Canada in 2018.

In a tweet shared via his official Twitter account, Miguna acknowledged his apology noting that he had accepted the president’s and the government’s apology.

“President William Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander In Chief of the Defence Forces, earlier this morning APOLOGIZED to me on his behalf and on behalf of the Government for the brutality inflicted upon me by the previous regime. I accept the apology,” he stated.

Miguna had been deported to Canada where he is also a citizen following his role in the unofficial swearing-in of opposition leader Raila Odinga as “the people’s president” back in 2018.

He finally returned to the country on October 20, 2022, after Ruto facilitated his return.

Prior to his return, the lawyer was at constant loggerheads with former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration over his citizenship.
