The 2019/2020 Betika National Super League season will remain memorable for Migori Youth FC.

As they gear up for the 2020/2021 season, the team is rebuilding, hoping to surpass last season’s performance and ultimately challenge for top honours.

Featuring for the second time, the   side outplayed themselves in the second tier league, emerging the best team, best attacking team, as well as producing the best coach of the month of October in 2019.

Now as the new season 2020/2021 nears, coach Robert Ojienda is laying down strategies to ensure that last season’s performance only gets better.

The only setback to the team currently is the fact that eight of its first-eleven players are yet to report to camp and their whereabouts are still unknown, but the forward-looking Ojienda has brought in 13 new players to replace the departed ones.

“We’re already building a new team and so far they are responding very well. We have played four major friendlies and everyday, l see improvement, which is very encouraging,” coach Ojienda told People Sport.

“Migori Youth is still ambitious and even though the team is almost new with almost 95 per cent of my first-eleven being new players, we’re not affected as such.

We have signed quality players and we just want to pick it from where we left last season and take it higher this season,” added Ojienda.

Quality signings

“Assessing from the matches they have played so far, I can confidently say that the boys are good and even though it’s too early to judge considering we are building a new team,” said Ojienda.
