Tana River Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have renewed calls for Governor Dhadho Godhana to revamp operations at the Hola Referral Hospital in his second term to alleviate the pain of patients seeking services at the health facility

Speaking at the homecoming ceremony of nominated MCA Abdul Hakim Shehe in Hola, Chewani ward MCA Hamisi Deye said Tana River is bedeviled with three problems: health services, drought, and poverty.

“If you see that we are fighting with the Governor and CECs, it is for the people’s best interests. It is not acceptable that up to now since time immemorial we are referring patients to Malindi, Mombasa and Garissa.

The problems of Tana are three, hospital services, school fees, and drought. We are heading for 15 years of devolved government, surprisingly up to now we have not eradicated the problems; the County Assembly has extra work, especially on health services,’’ said MCA Hamisi Deye.

He added that MCAs guided by laws would ensure the Executive performs its mandate to the satisfaction of the people “they should shape up or ship out,” he added. “If a person does not want to work, he will go. Five years ago there were conflicts between the Executive and the Assembly, we don’t want to have squabbles that will affect service delivery,’’ said MCA Deye.

Governor Godhana suffered a big blow in November last year after MCAs rejected his three County Executive Committee Member nominees for failure to conform to the laws and procedures of appointment.
