Ruto flies to US
President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto will fly out of the country later in the day to the United States of America.
The two are set to tour the City of Atlanta between May 20 and 21, 2024, ahead of the State Visit to the White House in Washington DC.
The Government of the City of Atlanta revealed the tour, in which the two are scheduled to meet Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.
“The City of Atlanta is proud to announce the May 20-21, 2024, visit of President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto of the Republic of Kenya. President Ruto will arrive in Atlanta ahead of a State Visit to the White House in Washington, D.C., where he will meet with President Joe Biden, marking 60 years of U.S.-Kenya diplomatic ties,” the Atlanta government stated.
The Kenyan President is also set to meet with civic leaders and luminaries from Atlanta’s global services industries, creative economy and international health institutions, and further discuss with Mayor Dickens strategies in the development of affordable housing.
President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will host Kenya’s President and First Lady for a State Visit to the United States on May 23, 2024.
“The upcoming visit will mark the 60th anniversary of US-Kenya diplomatic relations and will celebrate a partnership that is delivering for the people of the United States and Kenya. The visit will strengthen our shared commitment to advance peace and security, expand our economic ties, and stand together in defense of democratic values,” US Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in February 2024.
The leaders will discuss ways to bolster cooperation in areas including people-to-people ties, trade and investment, technological innovation, climate and clean energy, health, and security.
Power outage
Kenya Power has announced a power outage affecting two counties on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
In Nakuru County, the outage running from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm will affect Comply Industries, Mombasa Maize Millers, Bidco Ltd, Brookside, Kenya Seed, Mega Park, Royal Group, Pyrethrum, Tai Feeds, Chuma Mart and adjusted customers.
In Uasin Gishu, the outage will run from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm affecting Sinendet Centre, Sakam Quarry, Lower Kipkaren Centre, Upper Kipkaren, Nyengeilel Secondary School, Nyengeilel Centre, Murugusi Dispensary, Murugusi Primary School, Murugusi Centre, Musembe Market, Chepsaita, Magut Centre, Ngayu Centre, Psorungai, Lumakanda Centre, Lumakanda Secondary School, Lumakanda Hospital and adjacent customers.
EPL dramatic end
The English Premier League (EPL), the most followed top league in the world, will come to an end today for the 2023/24 season.
