Matiang’i blasts Ruto’s regime as one running on bribery

By , October 29, 2025

Presidential hopeful Fred Matiang’i has torn into the workings of President William Ruto’s regime, citing its loss of focus on addressing issues that are relevant to Kenyans.

Speaking to a local radio station on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Matiang’i asserted that the current government had lost focus and resorted to buying out Kenyans in the name of empowerment initiatives as opposed to letting its track record of work speak for itself.

Track record

“What we have is a government run on bribery. Governments run on their own track records. If this government were delivering services, then wananchi would be telling us to give them time to complete projects.  They cannot insist that they are doing too well and that wananchi are the ones who don’t understand their work,” he added.

The politician faulted the regime’s priorities as misconceived and in shambles. He cited the administration’s spending on bloggers as a misplaced venture, arguing that the focus should be on listening to and addressing the people’s needs.

“The focus of this government is hard to pinpoint. Their public policy infrastructure, from education to issues such as the hustler fund, can only be described by one word: chaotic. What we have now is a government keen on paying bloggers for propaganda and character-assassinating people,” he added.

Do the right thing

According to Matiang’i, the Ruto regime could save itself from much financial hassle by just focusing on doing the right things and lending a listening ear.

“My simple and free advice is that they can spend less money by listening to wananchi. I normally tell people. Just show your work, and you will not need to justify your actions. The government needs to step up and seek feedback from people,” he stated.

His remarks come after he equally declared that if given the chance to serve as Kenya’s president, he would replicate the same principles and discipline he implemented while serving in government.

“Discipline is destiny. We cannot progress as a nation if people do not adhere to rules and do what is expected. I would bring the same level of accountability, fairness, and discipline to government that I applied during my tenure in public service,” Matiang’i said.
