Matiang’i asks Kenyans to rally behind Uhuru’s unity vision
By Kiprono Keileb, November 7, 2025Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has called on Kenyans to rally behind the ideals and vision of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, urging citizens to embrace unity and reject tribal divisions.
Speaking during the Jubilee Party grassroots engagement meeting in Murang’a on Friday, November 7, 2025, Matiang’i emphasised the need to build a country that values contribution over ethnicity, gender, or age. He reminded Kenyans of the spirit that has long defined the nation, one of resilience, endurance, and collective purpose.
“With the Kenyan spirit, we are a long-distance country; we always stay in the task and get there,” Matiang’i said, drawing parallels between Kenya’s global reputation for long-distance running and the country’s ability to persevere through challenges.

He urged citizens to remain committed to the ideals set by Uhuru Kenyatta, describing them as essential for national unity and progress.
“Let us follow the ideals and visions of our party leader Uhuru Kenyatta, build one Kenya and a tribeless environment where it doesn’t matter where you come from, it does not matter your age, your gender, what matters is the contribution that the Lord has given you to make to our country,” Matiang’i said during the meeting.
His remarks come at a time when Jubilee Party is working to re-energise its grassroots structures and reconnect with supporters across the country. The Murang’a meeting is part of a wider effort to revive the party’s base and strengthen its presence in regions once considered its strongholds.

His speech reflected a broader push within the party to move away from divisive politics and focus on rebuilding a national movement rooted in service and shared identity.
By invoking the idea of a tribeless Kenya, Matiang’i reinforced the need for tolerance, coexistence, and collaboration, values he said are crucial for Kenya’s long-term stability and prosperity.
