President tour of Nairobi County

President William Ruto’s five-day tour of Nairobi County enters its third day as he is expected to tour other regions of the capital on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

The tour began on Monday, March 10, 2025, with a visit to Kamukunji constituency where he commissioned the Kamukunji Technical Vocational College, launched the new Eastleigh Market and inspected the construction of the Shauri Moyo affordable housing programme.

On Tuesday, the president was in the Mathare area where he made promises to the constituents of the area while in the company of Governor Johnson Sakaja.

The head of state visit is expected to elicit more reactions as his city tour enters the third day. The president will visit Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South, Embakasi South, and Westlands.

Meanwhile, a number of ODM politicians are expected to accompany him after the recent working framework of the party with the ruling UDA party.

House Committee changes

The National Assembly is expected to vote in new leadership of the members of various departmental committees of Parliament for the fourth session.

Among the committees in the spotlight include the Budget and Appropriation Committee which came under scrutiny during the Tuesday, March 11, 2025 session in parliament.

The past leadership of the committee is battling accusations of misappropriation of funds relating to their dealings following a complaint brought before the house by Omboko Milemba who unearthed an unjust sharing of public participation monies.

Milemba argued that the committee where public participation was done was denied their rightful shares.

The matter prompted the majority and minority leadership of the house to put the members eyeing the leadership position on notice over their conduct ahead of the much-anticipated elections.

“We have now reconstituted a new committee. Let me be on record. It won’t be business as usual to use appropriation money for their own constituents at the expense of other Kenyans. This house will not allow members to use their position in committee to misappropriate funds and enrich themselves. We have agreed as both majority and minority leadership that those who get the opportunity to sit in the committee will uphold equal allocation across the country,” majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah said.
