Manyora dismisses Ichung’wah’s push to separate Kiambu from Mt Kenya
Seasoned political analyst Herman Manyora has dismissed National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah’s recent efforts to push for the separation of Kiambu County from the larger Mt Kenya political bloc.
In his analysis aired on his YouTube channel on Monday, September 1, 2025, Manyora described the proposal as a weak and dangerous narrative that holds no real influence within the Mt Kenya region. He maintained that Ichung’wah lacks the political weight to champion such a move and that the idea is unlikely to gain any meaningful traction.
“Ichung’wah does not have what it takes to decide Mt Kenya; his call is not worthy of listening to. It is also a dangerous narrative, but luckily for my Kenya and the Agikuyu community, it won’t go anywhere; the person peddling it does not have the weight to carry such a load,” Manyora stated.

According to Manyora, Ichung’wah’s strength lies in his role as President William Ruto’s pointman, but within Kiambu itself, he does not command the same respect or authority as other established leaders. He pointed out that the county already has seasoned political heavyweights such as Moses Kuria, Governor Kimani Wamatangi, and former Governor William Kabogo, who overshadow Ichung’wah’s local influence.
“Ichung’wah can be Ruto’s pointman, but he is not a strong politician in Kiambu. There are people in Kiambu; there is Moses Kuria, Kimani Wamatangi, and William Kabogo. Kiambu has weights. I doubt if Kiambu people can listen to kimani Ichung’wah on such a serious matter,” he added
The analyst further noted that the people of Kiambu are unlikely to support Ichung’wah on a matter as significant as dismantling Mt Kenya’s political unity. He stressed that such an agenda requires leaders with deep grassroots connections and strong regional credibility, qualities he argued Ichung’wah does not possess.
Ichungw’ah’s earlier calls
This comes days after Kimani Ichungwah joined calls to have Kiambu County separated from the vote-rich region.
Speaking during a meeting at State House where President William Ruto hosted a delegation of grassroots leaders from Mt. Kenya on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Ichung’wah told the Head of State that although Kiambu is often regarded as part of the Mt. Kenya region, the only mountains its residents can actually see and boast of are Ngong Hills and Kilimambogo.

The majority leader emphasised that Kiambu should be recognised as a region in its own right, a declaration that was met with overwhelming approval from the grassroots leaders present.
