Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago has called for the election of responsible and qualified grassroots leaders in the upcoming United Democratic Alliance (UDA) polls to help defend the party and safeguard their votes during future polls.

Speaking in an interview with Emoo FM on Friday, March 13, 2026, ahead of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party’s repeat grassroots elections, Mandago emphasized the importance of choosing leaders who are well known within their wards and capable of effectively representing the interests of the community.

He noted that electing credible and trusted individuals at the grassroots level would strengthen the party’s structures and ensure that residents’ votes are protected during elections.

“I want to urge the residents to elect leaders who are well known and from within the wards in the upcoming UDA grassroots elections that are capable of defending the party even during the party elections in the future,” Mandago said.

Monitor electoral process

He said that leaders drawn from the local wards are better placed to mobilise residents and closely monitor the electoral process.

Mandago said that this will reduce the chances of manipulation or interference with the will of the people.

“Our people should know that the leaders who are qualified and are from within our wards are well known by the residents and can assist the party in reducing the chance of manipulation of votes during general elections,” Mandago stated.
