A 29-year-old man surrendered himself to the police in Kithyoko, Masinga Sub-county yesterday after allegedly defiling and killing a Grade Six pupil in a most macabre manner.

The shocking incident has sparked public outcry in the region.

Area assistant chief Raphael Musyoka said the suspect, Wilson Ngui, who was a farmhand working for Patrick Keya Mkala of Kanyonga village, Kithyoko location, confessed to having committed the murder after a disagreement with the 12-year-old girl.

He said the girl, (name withheld), who was a pupil at Kanyonga Primary School was alone at home at around 4pm on the fateful day.

“The girl’s mother Eunice Mwikali was away at the market at the time of the incident, immediately the girl arrived home from school, the suspect attacked her inside her parents’ house, raped her and stabbed her twice on the neck to death,” the assistant chief told People Daily on phone.

He said the suspect during interrogation at Kithyoko police station confessed to have raped the girl and stabbed her neck with a kitchen knife before bludgeoning her head to death with a jembe.

He then proceeded to the police station to report the murder.

“Visible stab injuries noted on the left side of the neck and head. A blood stained kitchen knife and jembe as tools suspected to have been used to commit the act recovered at the crime scene,” read a police report on the incident.

The body of the deceased was taken to Mbaku Funeral Home in Matuu while the suspect was placed in police custody.
