Malombe puts Kitui Level 4 Hospital on notice over alleged poor services
Kitui county governor Julius Malombe has revealed that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has written a letter to his office, stating that they have received numerous complaints about poor services provided at the Kitui Level 4 hospital.
Speaking at the Kitui Level 4 hospital, Malombe claimed that the residents have complained to EACC that the hospital offers poor services and instead refers them to a nearby private hospital for the services and medicines that they are supposed to get at the facility.
“They (EACC) have received complaints from Kitui residents. When they visit this facility, instead of getting good services they are sent to a nearby private facility for the same services they should get from here,” Malombe lamented.
Malombe was speaking at a function where he was flagging off a consignment of drugs and medical supplies worth Ksh81.5 million and where he warned against stealing the drugs. “Report anyone who is involved in illegal drug business,” Malombe urged residents.
He added that his government has cleared all the accrued debts from Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) and MEDS to ensure the smooth supply and running of the health facilities.
The governor also noted that his government will be recruiting 10 community health volunteers per village for the 247 villages in the county among other health development plans.
