Malava campaigns: Ndakwa pledges to avoid attacking rivals and focus on his manifesto

By , November 1, 2025

Malava parliamentary hopeful David Ndakwa has vowed to focus on his manifesto and not attack his rivals during the campaigns.

Speaking in Chemche Ward, Malava Constituency, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, where he braved the morning cold alongside President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet to popularize his bid, Ndakwa pledged to focus on the agenda he has for the people of Malava upon his election rather than targeting his opponents.

He went on to criticize his rivals, saying they have resorted to desperate measures by dragging the President and other leaders aligned with him, such as Farouk, into their campaigns instead of telling the electorate what they plan to do for the people of Malava. He emphasised that he will run an issue-based campaign and not poke holes at his opponents.

Ndakwa, who is serving his second term as MCA for Kabras West after first being elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2022 with a landslide victory across all polling stations, urged Malava voters to consider his past developmental track record when making their decision on November 27, the date set for the by-election.

“I do not want to speak about or mention anyone else I am competing against for this parliamentary seat. I will speak about my agenda. When others come, they mention me, Farouk, or Ruto instead of telling the electorate about their own plans.” Ndakwa stated.

Race for Malava seat

These statements come amid heated campaigns in Malava Constituency ahead of the by-election, with both camps actively pitching tents in the area to popularize their preferred candidates.

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Edgar Busiega recently withdrew from the race and unconditionally pledged support to Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Chair and Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako as the United Opposition candidate.

After stepping down, Busiega held his former opponent’s hand, paving the way for a joint campaign between the two parties, which are constituent members of the larger United Opposition. Their maiden campaign was held in Samisi, presided over by DCP’s deputy party leader Cleophas Malala, who drew mammoth crowds.

A day later, on Friday, October 31, 2025, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, together with Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, who chose to support Seth Panyako despite him being a UDA member, stormed the constituency and conducted vigorous campaigns for the KNUN boss.
