Majimbo Kalasinga challenges Ruto to name MP behind Ksh10 million bribe
By Mabonga Makhanu, August 20, 2025Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga has challenged President William Ruto to disclose the name of the legislator involved in a Ksh10 million bribe, arguing that blanket accusations against the entire House are damaging the reputation of Parliament.
Speaking during a press briefing at his home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Kalasinga stated that the president’s generalisation paints all MPs as corrupt.
He insisted that if the claim is true, the Head of State should come out clearly, name the individual involved, or report the matter to the police for appropriate action.
He added that this would allow the suspect to be investigated, arrested, and charged, while at the same time clearing the rest of the legislators from suspicion.
“Wewe unajua huyo mbunge alikuja kuchukua Ksh10 million; ni vitu mbili. Raisi unajua huyo mtu, wakenya wamjue ni nani majina yetu ikuwe safe, ama bwana raisi, you walk across State House, uandike statement. Kitu ya kwanza, we ukiandika statement kama Raisi, the police will take action, and he will be arrested,” Majimbo stated.
The Kabuchai MP emphasised that for politicians, reputation is everything, especially before their constituents. He argued that the president’s remarks, which portray Parliament as a corrupt institution, undermine the integrity of lawmakers and erode the trust that citizens place in them.
“Mwanasiasa anakuanga na stock moja; stock ya mwanasiasa ni the name, pekke yake ndio stock yake, ni hio iliharibu mambo yetu,” he added
Kalasinga maintained that unless specific names are revealed, the entire Parliament continues to be unfairly branded as corrupt, which he believes is unjust to the majority of legislators who have no involvement in the claims made by the head of state
Ruto’s claim
This follows President William Ruto’s claim that some Members of Parliament received bribes of up to Ksh10 million to influence the passage of the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating of Terrorism Financing Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

The president made the accusation during a joint parliamentary group meeting with ODM and Kenya Kwanza MPs on August 18, 2025, in Karen, where he specifically pointed to certain members of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC).
