By , March 3, 2020

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has declared positions of chairpersons and members of councils of public universities and constituent colleges vacant.

There are currently 22 public universities and nine constituent colleges.

In an advertisement placed in local dailies,  Magoha said his ministry is in the process of recruiting chairpersons and members of councils of public universities and constituent colleges.

As such, the CS invited interested candidates for the positions to make their applications not later than March 19, 2019.

“Interested candidates for the position of chairperson must hold a minimum of an earned PhD degree from a recognised university,”  Magoha states in the advert.

Further, the candidate should have experience in leadership and management and satisfy Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Magoha’s action puts into jeopardy the fate of three chairpersons of the university councils and tens of their members appointed by him  in April 2019 hangs in the balance.
