Maendeleo Chap Chap unveils senatorial candidate

Former Water Minister John Mutua Katuku will fly the Maendeleo Chap Chap flag in the yet to be announced Machakos senatorial by-election following the death of Senator Boniface Kabaka.

Katuku finished third after the late Kabaka and Wiper’s Jackson Kala in the hotly contested seat in the 2017 polls.

“We have picked Katuku because he is an experienced politician and development oriented leader, who has the interests of the people at heart,” said party leader Alfred Mutua.

Governor Mutua, at the party command center in Athi River, Machakos County, unveiled Katuku who served as Mwala MP between 1997 and 2007. He was also Water minister in former President Mwai Kibaki’s government.

Describing him as an experienced leader, Mutua said Katuku’s ideology resonates with the needs of the people.

In his acceptance speech, Katuku assured the people of Machakos that he would deliver on his mandate should they entrust him with the position.

“I have resigned as a party leader for People Trust Party and joined Maendeleo Chap Chap as the senatorial candidate.

I am going to work with Governor Mutua to ensure devolution succeeds in our great county,” said Katuku.
