LSK pushes DCI, police to probe advocate Imbukwa’s killing
By Cynthia Lodite, April 23, 2026The Law Society of Kenya has issued demands to the investigative team following the tragic death of an advocate who succumbed to injuries sustained during a reported brutal assault.
In a press release on Thursday, April 23, 2026, LSK demanded prompt, impartial, and comprehensive investigations to establish the full facts surrounding the death of Advocate Tom Ouya Imbukwa.
According to LSK, advocates play a central role in safeguarding rights, ensuring access to justice, and upholding the rule of law. Any attack on an Advocate is, therefore, an attack on the justice system itself and an affront to the constitutional order.
“In light of these concerns, the Law Society of Kenya makes the following calls and undertakes the following actions,” LSK stated.
LSK demands
The Society is now calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service to conduct prompt, impartial, and comprehensive investigations to establish the full facts surrounding the death of Advocate Imbukwa.
“The Society calls upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service to conduct prompt, impartial, and comprehensive investigations to establish the full facts and circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Imbukwa. These investigations must meet the highest standards of professionalism, independence, and accountability,” LSK stated
At the same time, the Society urges any member of the public with information relevant to the matter to share it with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) through its official reporting channels or directly with the Law Society of Kenya.
“Members of the public may contact the Society through telephone 0111231010 or email pil@lsk.or.ke. The Society assures the public that all information received will be treated with the strictest confidentiality,” LSK stated.

LSK further demanded that all investigations be conducted transparently and that any individual found responsible, regardless of rank or office, be held accountable strictly in accordance with the law.
“The Society expects that all investigations will be conducted transparently and that any individual found responsible, regardless of rank or office, will be held accountable strictly in accordance with the law. Impunity in matters involving violence against Advocates must not be tolerated,” LSK stated.
LSK assistance to the family
At the same time, the Society has said it shall provide legal assistance, including the allocation of an Advocate to support the family throughout the investigative process.
In addition, the Society has announced that it is supporting the family in identifying an independent pathologist to observe and participate in the postmortem examination to ensure transparency and credibility.
“The Law Society of Kenya will provide legal assistance, including the allocation of an Advocate to support the family throughout the investigative process. The Society is also supporting the family in identifying an independent pathologist to observe and participate in the postmortem examination to ensure transparency and credibility,” LSK noted
