LSK officials raid sitting courts at Milimani Law Courts
By Zipporah Ngwatu, July 22, 2026The president of Law Society of Kenya (LSK) officials led by Charles Kanjama accompanied by the Vice Chair Wavinya Nicholas and former LSK president Nelson Havi have asked Magistrate Theresa Nyangena to adjourn court proceeds.
The officials have visited the Milimani Law Courts to ensure that all advocates have boycotted today’s Wednesday, July 22, 2026, as directed by LSK.
Addressing the court, Havi has told the court that they will not leave until the ongoing matters are adjourned.
Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Theresa Nyangena on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, Havi has told the court that the aim is to ensure accountability and integrity of the services offered by the judicial officials.
“Your honour, we, the advocates of Kenya, have declared a single-day boycott towards accountability and integrity in the delivery of services of the Judiciary,” Havi submitted.
“You, honour, may find it convenient and comfortable today to proceed with your matters, but what we are asking for is the need to push for accountability and access to justice in a manner that is effective and efficient,” Havi added.
“It is for that reason that we have come to ask this court to head the call for the boycott.”
Havi has asked Magistrate Nyangena to write her final sentence, noting that it is a public holiday and no business should go on.
Notably, the LSK Vice President Teresia Wavinya Nicholas also requested the court to halt the proceedings as a show of solidarity with other advocates.
Wavinya stated that they had been to another court that was in session and requested an adjournment, and the magistrate and advocates in court agreed with their request.
“Your honour, we have been before your sister, and she was also proceeding with her hearing, and I have to make the same request for the advocates to show solidarity with the other advocates, and the court is no longer proceeding. So, we are asking that this court also act in the same way,” Vice President Wavinya submitted.
In her response, Magistrate Nyangena said that she received a memo from Chief Justice Martha Koome instructing her to proceed with the court cases as scheduled.
Nyangena acknowledged that she was aware of the court boycott by the advocates, but she had to obey her boss’s instructions.
However, she later agreed with LSK request and adjourned the matter after all the parties in the cases before her agreed to the adjournment.
