LSK calls for police accountability on chaos witnessed in Othaya

By , January 26, 2026

The Law Society of Kenya has called on the National Police Service (NPS) to be held accountable for the attack on an ACK church in Othaya on Sunday, January 25, 2026, saying that the police must have acted from a point of command to disperse worshippers in a church.

Speaking during an interview on a local radio station on Monday, January,26,2026 LSK president Faith Odhiambo condemned the incident at ACK church in Othaya, where the former president Rigathi Gachagua was attending church, terming it as misuse and abuse of power and that the National Police Service has proved to be acting in pushing for political interest.

“We have condemned what happened, it is a sad state of affairs that we continue to see what we saw sometimes last year a different church being teargassed as well and we continue to raise concerns, We have seen the statement issued by the National Police Service that they are getting into investigations but after these investigations we are not seeing action and particular officers being held accountable for what is going on as much as you say you highly regret, who sent them? The police must have acted on a point of command.” Said Faith.
