Residents of Rumuruti town, Laikipia county, have protested the deteriorating insecurity after two cousins were murdered on their way home from late night church prayers.

Tabitha Wanjiku and Jeremiah Maina were walking home when they were slashed to death in Runda estate.

The chairman of the town’s business community Patrtick Mwangi said the Friday night killings were among several witnessed in the last two months.

He warned the police that if the security situation is not improved the will be forced to take action.

Police said they were pursuing leads that will lead to arrests of the suspects.
