Kenya is hosting the 23rd National Prayer Breakfast at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, bringing together senior political leaders, diplomats, religious leaders and representatives from the private sector in a high-profile event focused on prayer, leadership and diplomacy.

President William Ruto is hosting the annual gathering, which has become one of the nation’s key national events that blends faith, governance and international relations.

The National Prayer Breakfast traditionally provides leaders with an opportunity to reflect on national unity, ethical leadership and regional cooperation.

Among the foreign dignitaries attending the 2026 event is Lindiwe Tulile Dlamini, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Eswatini. Her presence indicates the growing diplomatic ties between Kenya and Eswatini, as leaders across Africa continue to strengthen parliamentary and bilateral engagements.

Also attending the breakfast is Joseph Ntikiru Ntimana, Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). His participation highlights the importance of regional integration within the East African Community (EAC), especially at a time when member states are seeking stronger cooperation in trade, security and governance matters.

Uganda’s Senior Presidential Advisor Chris Wakasisi is the chief guest at the event. His attendance reflects the close relations between Nairobi and Kampala, with Kenya and Uganda remaining key strategic partners within the East African region. Wakasisi is expected to deliver remarks focusing on leadership, unity and regional collaboration.

The event has also attracted representatives from the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, members of parliament (MPs), religious leaders and delegates from the private sector. Diplomats from various foreign missions in Nairobi are attending as Kenya positions itself as a regional hub for diplomacy and multilateral engagement.

The National Prayer Breakfast has, over the years, evolved into more than a religious gathering, becoming an important platform for political dialogue and soft diplomacy. Leaders use the occasion to foster goodwill, strengthen partnerships and promote peace across the region.

Security has been heightened around the Safari Park Hotel as delegates and guests arrive for the high-level event. Organisers say the breakfast will focus on themes of servant leadership, accountability and national cohesion.

As Kenya hosts the 23rd edition of the National Prayer Breakfast, the presence of senior regional leaders and diplomats signals the country’s continued influence in regional affairs and its commitment to strengthening ties with neighbouring states through dialogue and shared values.
